If you are teaching on the quarter system, you may find time is short to do much of the material in Chapters X and XI. If so, resolve to begin faster next time! These problems are difficult, but they are important in physical science and engineering.

A possible time-saving strategy is not to begin every new problem by separating variables one at a time. Do one thoroughly each time there is a new coordinate system, but after that move swiftly to the product solutions in order to concentrate more on the nature and uses of the special functions. To some extent the text is already structured this way.
